Bob's notes: I asked new Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, "You said that the White House is s difficult place..."
He interrupted and said, "I meant the halls and the close-in people."
I said, "OK, my question is, The White House deals with crises and big issues all the time. What are you going to do when you and staff prepare a well-thought-out statement at night which the President approved, and the President tweets out something completely different in the morning? And, are you willing to say you made a mistake about some issue or strategy?"
He said, "Those are hypotheticals, and I'm not getting into them." (Me now: not at briefing, actually not hypothetical at all, happens regularly, and very frustrating for dedicated federal employees regardless of party.)
Back to briefing: I followed up and re-asked, "And are you willing to say you made a mistake about something?"
He responded, "Look at me," motioning and implying candid guy.
